"That Girl" is the best version of yourself. Close your eyes and think about who she is. What does she look like? What does she smile at? What habits does she practice? Becoming "That Girl" is not about being someone else, it is about becoming an elevated YOU. That is the goal for this morning routine. To romanticize the mundane, set you up for a great day of being the best you that you can be with simple steps that are easy to follow or make your own!

1. Wake up early

This doesn't have to be a 4:30AM alarm, but give yourself 1-2 hours before your first activity for the day. This will allow you to have those slow mornings every morning. It serves as a reminder that each day can be cherished. My favorite way to wake up early is with the Hatch Alarm Clock (listed in the Products tab). Instead of waking up to a blaring alarm and spiking your cortisol first thing in the morning, the Hatch Alarm Clock wakes you up by simulating a sunrise. You can customize the type of light, its intensity, and if you would like to add chirping birds with the sunrise.

2. Meditate

This can a be simple 1 minute mediation that you do while brushing your teeth. Visualize what you want your day to look like. Set the intentions. Do affirmations. Pray. Whatever will allow you to quiet your mind of all the chaos that the day might hold. Focus on the positive rather than the negative.

3. Drink Water

This is an important part of the morning routine because you normally wake up dehydrated because your body has been without water for 6-9 hours while you were asleep. It will also help wake your body up and offer an "internal shower" as I like to call it. You can romanticize this part of the morning routine by making your morning water, lemon water, hot water, having fun shaped ice cubes, or putting it in a cup that makes you smile.

4. Journal

Journaling has a number of benefits for mental health and overall wellness. This practice can help clear your mind before the day begins. You can try brain dumping your to do list so that it's not constantly circling in your mind. My favorite morning journal is the 5 Minute Gratitude Journal (also listed in the Products tab). Gratitude is another practice that has many benefits. Importantly, it helps you shift your perspective of the day positively. Why not enjoy both at the same time? A good way to habit stack and be efficient with your morning.

5. Move Your Body

The morning is a great time to get some movement in for your body. Not only does this help with your physical fitness, but also your mental health. This does not have to be an intense one hour workout in the gym (if that's you, you go girl!). This could be a nice 10-minute walk outside. Walking outside in the morning and getting the sunlight in your face is another practice that has many benefits of its own. You could also do a quick 10-minute yoga flow. Just a little movement each day can go a long way.

6. Eat Breakfast

You don't have to wait until steps 1-5 are completed to do this, but I find that's the way I do it. Eating a healthy breakfast is so essential for being your best self each day. It nourishes your mind and body to take on the tasks of the day. Eating a healthy breakfast can also help with midmorning crashes that can often stop us before lunch has even arrived. Some of my favorites currently are a yogurt bowl with granola, blueberries and honey or a breakfast burrito with eggs and sausage.

My hope is that you will at least try this for a week and see what a difference it makes in your mental and physical well-being, and you get one step closer to being "That Girl" See you in the morning!
